A fully stocked toolbox is essential for competing tasks around the home.
When it comes to our homes, there forever seems to be an endless list of DIY and odd jobs that require your attention. From hanging pictures to putting up shelves to putting together furniture, there are plenty of tasks to keep you occupied around the home, and as such, a tool box is a vital collection of equipment to have on hand. Whilst tools such as impact wrenches and jigsaws may never be something you’ll ever need, other equipment such as handsaws, screwdrivers and spirit levels are likely to be surprisingly useful for a number of day to day tasks.
If it’s not something you’re familiar with, then shopping for tool box supplies can be a daunting task – who really needs 10 different screwdrivers? Deciding what is necessary and what is not can be difficult to distinguish, so to help, here are a few essential items you’re certain to need for your tool box.
1. A Torch
Perhaps not something you’d automatically associate with a toolbox, but a torch is vital especially when it comes to having to partake in tasks like dealing with a blown fuse or putting up shelves in those hard to see places.
2. A Measuring Tape
A sewing box is not the only place a measuring tape should feature; it is equally as important to a tool box too. From measuring up a room for new furniture to measuring curtains to measuring wood for building your own shelves, a tape measure is one of the most useful and versatile items included in your tool box.
3. A Saw
If you’re a dab hand at DIY then you’ll already know what a useful tool a saw can be. Useful for cutting through materials such as wood and metal, they can be used for small DIY tasks such as cutting wood for shelving.
Although you might question why you need so many, a screwdriver set which has a variety of different heads is essential. Flat heads, Phillips-head are the must-have screwdrivers to include in various sizes and magnetic tips are advisable.
5. A Cordless Hand Drill
You may initially wonder if you’re ever likely to need a drill, but it truly is an indispensible item. From putting up shelves to hanging pictures, a cordless hand drill can make these tasks a breeze. Alternatively, with the right attachments, a drill can be transformed into tools such as a sander too.
6. Spirit Level
Whether you’re putting up coat hooks, hanging photographs or attaching your flat screen television to your wall, ensuring things are hung straight is a battle. A spirit level is the tool you need to combat this problem and something you’ll be glad you own.
7. A Wrench
From tightening bolts to dealing with minor plumbing fixtures, an adjustable wrench is an extremely versatile tool which can be used for any number of things.
These are just a few of the basic tools you’ll need to complete small projects around the home, but there are plenty of other useful tools you can stock up on too. Companies such as Anglia Tool Centre have a wide range of hand tools, suitable for both big and small DIY projects.
