The picture-perfect beauty of Kashmir has always caught the fancy of our filmmakers and it still continues to do so. Many movies have beautifully captured the essence of the place which has rightly be termed as the “Paradise on Earth”. Here is a shot of some of the most famous movies which took us on a visual tour of Kashmir and gave us major travel goals.
How can one forget the evergreen Shammi Kapoor singing to the charming Sharmila Tagore on a shikara in the Dal Lake? Well, that movie was “Kashmir ki Kali” which gave us interesting glimpses of the city. Films like Kashmir ki Kali, Aandhi and most recently, Fitoor explored the beauty of Srinagar like never before. A trip to this beautiful city is said to be incomplete without visiting places such as Dal Lake, Shalimar Bagh, Shankaracharya Temple, NishatBagh and Jawaharlal Nehru Botanical Garden among others. Do take a shikara ride on the Dal Lake for that complete experience. As for connectivity, Srinagar is well-connected from the road, rail and airport from across all major cities in India. If you are planning to take a train journey, then it would be a good idea to do PNR enquiry for detailed information.
Remember the Sunny Deol-Amrita Singh starrer Betaab movie? Well, a major portion of that movie was shot in one of the valleys in Pahalgam and now that place is known as Betaab Valley, named after the movie itself. More recently, the famous song “Ishq Wala Love” from the film Student of the Year was picturesque in Betaab Valley. Several other famous movies like Silsila, Khamosh, Bobby and Karma were shot across Pahalgam. The picturesque beauty of Pahalgam has been perfectly captured in all these movies.
Loved the legendary actor Shammi Kapoor crooning to “Chahe koi mujhejungleekahe” and always wanted to visit that place where the song was shot? Well, it was Gulmarg which has been a favourite with several Bollywood filmmakers over the years. Some other famous movies that were shot here are Silsila, YehJawanihaiDiwani and Jab Tak Hai Jaan to name a few. Some not to miss places of Gulmarg are Kongdori, Baba Reshi Shrine, St. Mary’s Church, Gulmarg Biosphere and Alpather Lake among others. The most popular activity in Gulmarg is skiing and you can reach Khilanmarg, the site for skiing, via a cable car ride or gondola. If you are planning to take train journey for Gulmarg, then the nearest railhead would be Srinagar Railway Station or Nowgam Railway Station. You can easily get a private cab or bus from Srinagar to Gulmarg and the travel time via road is about 2 hours. You can check PNR status prediction and other relevant features using the super cool ixigo train app for a hassle free experience.
