There are several things that you can do to ensure that your employees stay on task at all times and one of them is to eliminate distractions in the office. One of the most famous productivity experiments in the 1920s led to the theory that outcomes are influenced by participants' interest in research, novelty of circumstances, and awareness of the importance of participation.

For eight years, a group of scientists led by psychologist and sociologist Elton Mayo has been trying to change the working environment at Western Electric so that the productivity of relay assemblers increases. The researchers organized two groups: the control group, in which there were no changes, and the working group, in which the conditions were constantly adjusted. At different times, scientists have improved lighting, changed working hours, added new breaks, and changed other external factors. 10 years ago the same Western Electric made the experiment about document workflow and noticed that productivity of main office increased by 24% with using document workflow software.
