Five Natural Cleaning Recipes

Using domestic cleaning products based on various chemicals could help you eliminate the dirt in your home, but it could also endanger the health of all occupants of the place, and especially the children. A child's immune system is normally weaker than the one of an adult, which is why children often react with developing various allergies from the chemicals used in the detergents.

This is exactly why more and more contemporary mothers and housewives face the dilemma between keeping their home immaculately clean or using such cleaning solutions that will guarantee less allergens in their homes. However, the thing they do not know is that they do not have to choose the lesser evil because they are able to clean their home perfectly by using all natural products. And the best part is that most of the natural cleaning products can be found in everyone's kitchen, which makes cleaning fast, easy and inexpensive.

Natural soap

Did you know you can use natural soap instead of the majority of detergents sold in the stores? In order to use it effectively, you should scrape it first and then mix it with some water. The solution you get can be used instead of washing powder. The product can also be used for cleaning your wooden and laminate floors.

Lemon juice

All you have to do is to apply the lemon juice on the dirty surfaces and wait for half an hour. Then wipe the surface with a clean towel sprinkled with salt. However, you should be aware of the fact this method is not recommended to be used on delicate surfaces in order not to scratch them by using the abrasive particles of salt. Lemon juice and salt can also be used on rusty stains to clean them effectively.

You can also use lemon juice as a major ingredient of a home-made polishing product that is extremely efficient when used on wooden furniture. Simply mix some lemon juice with some olive oil in a ratio 1:2 and stir well.

Baking soda

Baking soda is one of the most-efficient natural cleaning products available in everyone's kitchen. It is used to eliminate grease accumulations, bad odours, various kinds of moulds and can even help you unclog the sink.

It can be used for cleaning your oven, hot plates and burnt cutlery. For the purpose you should only mix several teaspoons of baking soda with some water until you get thick creamy substance. The paste can be used on various surfaces in your kitchen and bathroom, but be aware of the fact that the paste is a bit abrasive, so you should not use it on too delicate surfaces that can be easily scratched or damaged.

Baking soda has the fantastic property of “catching” the bad smells, which is exactly why it can be used for refreshing old carpets or upholstery furniture. Simply sprinkle some baking soda on top and leave it be for a few hours. Then carefully vacuum clean the carpet in order to remove it.
